Classics and cult-classics will be shown on the big screen once more. Come watch some film favorites in a historic theater.
With a spectacular backdrop, our summer concert series takes place on the lawn of a National Historic Landmark-Marquette Park at the foothills of Historic Fort Mackinac downtown across from the marina. Bring a picnic and tune in for some great live folk, rock, country, blues-the best of Americana.
All concerts are free. We do recommend bringing a blanket or lawn chairs for your comfort. June-August, Thursdays 8pm-9pm (Leo Kottke will be 7:30-9pm).
The beauty of Mackinac Island encourages artists to relax, focus on their creativity and thrive in the company of their fellow students and the instructor. We have some wonderful local and regional artists lined up for our weekly Workshops at the Museum, held at the Richard and Jane Manoogian Mackinac Art Museum. The classes offer a broad range of media from painting to metals! New this year, we will also host four extended workshops (scroll down for more information).
Islander, Jim Bogan discuss a classic film. Following an introduction, watch the movie in a historic theater and join him afterwards for a relaxed and intriguing discussion.
On August 2, literary expert Glen Young will join Jim to discuss a novel later made into a film. Read the book over the summer, watch the film version on the big screen, and enjoy a riveting conversation.
Extended and multiple-day workshops will be held this season. Instructors such as master painter Susan Sarback, master pastelist Margaret Dyer, bookbinder Vicki Engling, and PVC Silver Certified Instructor Rosemary Gould will be sharing their knowledge with students.
