EXHIBITS in the gallery

Located in the Mission Point Theater lobby, the Center for the Arts gallery overlooks Lake Huron in the original main entrance to the theater. Traveling and local exhibits rotate throughout the season. Staff and volunteers are usually present to answer questions about the artwork and provide more information about arts and culture on Mackinac Island. 


The gallery is open 9-5 Monday-Saturday, and 12-5 Sunday during the Summer and early Fall months. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged.

Poetic Visions of Mackinac

June 2019

In partnership with the students of Mackinac Island Public School, a juried exhibit featuring student artwork and poetry will be on display during the month of June.

Unsung Stories: Great Women of Early Mackinac

June 15 - July 15, 2019 | Opening Reception: June 15 5:00-7:00pm, open to the public

In partnership with Melissa Croghan, the Center for the Arts will host a special exhibit featuring portraits and historical information about significant women of Mackinac Island from the 17th through the 19th centuries. This exhibit will coincide with a new book detailing the biographies of historic Mackinac Island women.

Mackinac Island Showcase (feat. Mackinac 7)

July 15 - August 15, 2019

The Center for the Arts on Mackinac Island is pleased to host local Mackinac Island artists including the the "Mackinac 7" artists collective during the month of July.

The Intercontinental Biennial of Indigenous Art

August 18 - September 3, 2019

In partnership with the Michilimackinac Historical Society, The Rendezvous at the Straits Powwow, the Visitors Bureau of St. Ignace, and the Indigenous School of the Arts (Ecuador), the Center for the Arts will present a collection of works by indigenous artists from across the globe. In conjunction with the exhibit, classes at the Mackinac Island Art Museum and a film series in the Mission Point Theater will also feature the creative works of indigenous artists.

Crossing the Straits

September 8 - October 31 2019 | Opening Reception: September 8 · 2:00pm, open to the public

Artwork uniting both the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of Michigan will be on display in late summer 2019. This is a juried show. Interested artists: please check back soon for details about submission.
