In its ninth year, ArtPrize in Grand Rapids, Michigan offered the largest cash prize of any art competition in the world, and is the most-attended public art event on the planet with over 400,000 visitors to the exhibits during three weeks in fall 2017. 

 

This exhibit was a preview of artwork by UP artists that were to be be featured in ArtPrize 2017. In the second week of September, these ArtPrize-bound pieces continued downstate to Grand Rapids where they were on display at the “UP Pavilion” located at the Acton Institute, and at a variety of other locations.

We encouraged visitors to re-discover these pieces (and vote for them) in Grand Rapids Sept. 20-Oct. 8, 2017 and find many more amazing works of art at ArtPrize 2017. A listing of Upper Peninsula artists and where to find their work at ArtPrize was posted online for the duration of ArtPrize and the Pre-Prize exhibit.
