Join the Mackinac Arts Council for Blackbird: Book to Stage, a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience a new play from the inside out.
Audience members will have the opportunity to pick a character and read the role alongside other participants as we bring this new play to life for the very first time. No auditions. No memorizing lines. No previous acting experience required. Just a willingness to play along and see what happens when a story jumps off the page.

Setting
The play takes place centrally in 2026 on the front porch of a summer cottage on the east bluff on Mackinac Island.
The past is in various locations, from the years 1860 to 1901.

About the Author
Scota Sorin is a pseudonym for Mackinac Island resident, Edna Willa Sullivan Troop, who built the original Silver Birch Lodge (also known as Silver Birches).
Blackbird, published in Detroit in 1907, is her only known novel.
