About
Read Between the Lines: Staging Shakespeare When Shakespeare was writing his plays, he had no way of knowing that someday, theatres would have access to lighting design, sound design, and so many other technical elements we are used to seeing in theatres today. So, he relied on just the actors and the words to set the scene. Shakespeare’s plays are full of clues for the actors, and this workshop will help uncover the information contained in the text. You’ll learn everything from the basics of Shakespeare’s verse and writing style to renaissance staging conditions, and more importantly, how these features of the text can be tools for actors to use, rather than an added challenge.
