THOREAU AT MACKINAC

Join us for a very special evening of celebration commemorating Henry David Thoreau's 200th birthday and his 1861 visit to Mackinac Island!

The evening will include readings from Thoreau, readings and musical renditions of writing by local authors, visual artwork inspired by Thoreau by local area artists, and a concert performance by the Straits Area Band including a new composition commissioned especially for the occasion. This evening will also mark the release of a new book of writing by Thoreau and local authors, entitled Thoreau at Mackinac. This is a once in a lifetime event for anyone who loves Mackinac, art, literature, and nature.
